Midleton very rare releases ultra-luxury $60,000 Irish whiskey aged 50 years
Luxe Exposé
Midleton Very Rare, the pinnacle of Irish whiskey, unveiled the final chapter in its acclaimed Silent Distillery Collection: Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Collection Chapter Six. It marks the oldest single pot still Irish whiskey ever released and the final drop from the legendary Old Midleton Distillery. A journey that began in 2020 reaches its magnificent finale with Chapter Six, a 50-year-old liquid time capsule that captures the very soul of the legendary Old Midleton Distillery.
Aged to perfection and unveiled in honour of the distillery’s 200th anniversary, this whiskey is a farewell to a silent giant. The Old Midleton Distillery, which produced some of Ireland’s most revered pot still whiskeys from 1825 until its stills fell quiet in 1975, finds its final voice in Chapter Six. These are the last drops from those storied copper stills – never to be made again.
Distilled by the legendary Max Crockett in what was once the world’s largest pot still (dubbed the “seventh wonder of the whiskey world”), Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Collection Chapter Six was then cared for by three generations of master distillers – Barry Crockett, Brian Nation, and Kevin O’Gorman. Each of them played a part in shepherding the whiskey through decades of aging, treating it more like a family heirloom than a beverage.
