Counterfeiting: CHANEL unveils an e-logo dedicated to its retailers

Journal du Luxe

As part of its strategy to protect intellectual property, CHANEL has designed a logo for its authorized online retailers. The objective? To ensure that consumers are buying a real product of the brand.

After Charlotte Tilbury's anti-dupes communication campaign, it is now the turn of counterfeits to be fought by a big name in the beauty sector. CHANEL has indeed set up an e-logo for its authorized online retailers. The double C of the house is placed in the centre of a black circle where it is written on the edges "authorized retailer".

This stamping is intended to protect its cosmetics, make-up and perfume products from the many copies sold on platforms that do not join its official network. Among the online brands that already display the logo on CHANEL pages are Sephora, La Rinascente and Marionnaud. The house has registered this digital label in France and in various countries, such as the United States, Singapore and Germany.
